Video Game Review
Available for youth associations, teams, and individual players.
In many youth and high school programs, teams receive similar amounts of ice time. To gain a competitive edge, players and teams need tools that go beyond practice—and video review is one of the most effective.
How It Works
Video Sources:
We utilize LiveBarn when available. If LiveBarn is not an option, we may attend games in person when practical, or use video provided by parents, teams, or associations.
Process:
We begin by meeting with the player, parents, or team staff to understand goals and focus areas. This may include topics such as:
Offensive zone entries
Defensive positioning
Breakouts
Faceoffs
Shot selection and location
Wall play
Power play / penalty kill
Ice time usage
After reviewing game film, we provide clear, actionable feedback using our Technical – Tactical – Transferable model:
Technical: What needs to be corrected
Tactical: Why it matters in game situations
Transferable: How to apply it in real games
Our goal is to simplify the game, identify areas for improvement, and help players make lasting adjustments.
What Age is Appropriate for Video Review?
Video analysis can be introduced as early as 10U when taught correctly. It becomes increasingly valuable at the 12U level and continues through high school, junior hockey, and beyond.
All reviews are tailored to age and development level, with realistic expectations based on the player or team.
Pricing
Associations: Contact us to discuss custom options
Teams & Players: Pricing varies based on number of games reviewed, level of detail, and whether meetings or on-ice support are included
We intentionally limit the number of video review clients we take on to ensure timely, high-quality feedback.
Hockey IQ Classes
We also offer Hockey IQ training for teams, groups, and individual players.
These sessions are highly effective and can be scheduled at any time. Discounted rates are available when combined with video review services.
Topics include:
Defensive zone structure
Offensive zone positioning, entries, and forechecking
Breakout systems
Power play and penalty kill concepts
Game awareness and decision-making
Hockey IQ training is one of the most important components of player development, helping athletes understand not just what to do—but why.
